FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q1  Isn’t the Brookside Neighborhood Association for homeowners only?

A1   No, we pride our association as a “neighborhood” association. We believe that homeowners, renters, and even area businesses all have a vested interest in the area in which they live, go to school, work and play. Neighborhood Associations draw together a wide diversity of people to cooperate and enhance the livability of the neighborhood.

Q2  Why should I join the Brookside Neighborhood Association?

A2    The association is a source of information and communication for its members and a vehicle for cooperative beneficial efforts.

Citizens can become involved in the city government process through neighborhood associations working with the Mayor’s Office for Neighborhoods. One voice is just that — one voice — whereas a neighborhood association is many voices with a common interest in keeping the neighborhood vibrant.

Q3  How can I get involved?

A3   Easy…. There are many opportunities for you to become involved; first and foremost, become a BNA member and attend a meeting which is a good way to become familiar with your neighbors. How much or how little time spent  is entirely up to you, but the need for involvement and volunteers is ever present.

Q4  What kinds of events does the Brookside Neighborhood Association sponsor?

 A4

·       Quarterly meetings featuring guest speakers. Some past speakers have included Master Gardeners, Brookside's District Councilor, Tulsa County Assessor, Citizen’s Crime Commission, and many others.

 ·       City-Wide Spring Clean-up (Operation CleanSweep).

·       The Brookside Neighborhood Association is open to adding new events and activities to promote participation and meet the needs of the membership.

·       Some recent additions to services include our new website, which is still being developed but already offers information pertinent to the neighborhood as well as the community in general.
